Hucknall incredible run of victories against the Knights came to an end as the visitors staged a late comeback to grab a share of the spoils. Hucknall were undone in a game which the majority of the supporters present (I wasn't one) thought was their best performance of the season by a equalzer 6 minutes into stoppage time scored by the visitor's keeper.
Hucknall were forced into a change in goal with Alfie Smith-Eccles unavailable. Frankie Shepard signed from Heanor Town in time to play in the game. Welcome aboard Frankie.
Mahzi Simmons dropped to the bench along side the returning player Omreiki Myles and Trev Lindo. Morgan Scott on work experience from Mansfield Town was also on the bench.
Hucknall started really brightly earning a corner in the first minute which was punched away by the visiting keeper. He was called into action again on 10 minutes producing a good save from Belgrave before Parkes put an effort wide just a minute later.
On 19 a free kick was awarded on the edge of the box but Ashurst's free kick was cleared for a corner from which a free kick was awarded to Ashby.
On 25 mins the Yellows opened the scoring, Brad Wells getting on the end of a cross and scoring from close range at the far post.
Just before half time Pemberton forced a good save from the Ashby keeper after Sugars had sone well to get the ball back in from a corner.
Half Time: Hucknall 1 Ashby 0
Hucknall continued to control the game after the break forcing an early corner but this was cleared. Uyi-Olaye was then fouled on the edge of the box but the free kick evaded everyone.
On 54 Belgrave was booked for kicking the ball away.
On the hour mark Hucknall doubled their lead when the impressive Uyi-Olaye finished off a lovely move which involved Ashurst releasing Sugars who's pinpoint cross found Uyi-Olaye to slot home. Uyi-Olaye was involved again crossing to Wells but a defender got in a vital touch to prevent a third goal.
Hucknall made changes on 65 mins with Rowe and Oli-Olaye being replaced by Simmon's and Lindo.
The visitors had a chance after the ball was given away in midfield but Shepard was able to palm the shot away.
Hucknall continued to press with a couple of corners one of which the keeper missed but the Yellow's were unable to capitalise.
Belgrave was replaced by Myles on 74 mins.
Ashby finally exerted some pressure on 79 mins when a shot was deflected for a corner. This was punched away by Shepard but fell to an Ashby man who fired over the bar.
81 mins saw Wells and Parkes make way for Fogg and Scott.
87 mins saw a stoppage in play when both Simmons and Sugars went down injured which led to both going off the field having received treatment.
Ashby capitalised on this scoring in the 90th minute whilst the Yellows were down to 9 men. Kozluk who had come on as sub finding the net from Johnson's headed flick on from a free kick.
Worse was to follow for Hucknall as another free kick found the visiting keeper who had gone up for the set piece finding the back of the net much to the delight of the visiting bench. Hucknall thought they may be recued by the linesman's raised flag but this was only to confirm the ball had crossed the line.
FT Hucknall 2 Ashby 2
More points given away from a position of strength from 2 set pieces again despite a good team performance. Credit to the visitors who at last got some reward from a game against us.
Up next for the Yellows is the next round of the FA Vase on Saturday against Lutterworth Town.
