LOCAL RIVALS UP NEXT FOR YELLOWS

 EASTWOOD CFC V HUCKNALL TOWN

GCE HIRE FLEET UCL PREMIER NORTH

SATURDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER 2025 15.00 KO

MATCH PREVIEW

Hucknall make the short journey to Coronation Park to take on local rivals Eastwood CFC a fixture the fans always look forward to.

Eastwood came up short in the play offs last year losing out to Boston Town and are expected to be up in the top area come the end of the season.

However they have made a mediocre start to the season with a league record that reads:

played 8 winning 2 drawing 3 and losing 3 with a GD of minus 3

The 2 wins have come against Ashby Ivanoe (away 3 1) and Sherwood Colliery (3 2 at Home)

Draws have come against Newark and Sherwood on opening day (home 1 1), Skegness (away 1 1) and tenants Belper United (away 3 3)

Defeats have come against Blackstones (away 0 2), Heanor Town (away 3 1) and Newark Town (home 0 2)

In the cups Eastwood have done well.

FA Cup. Beat Gresley Rovers after a 2 2  home draw and 0 0 away draw, 4 2 on penalties. In the next round they defeated Coton green 4 nil away. Grimsby Borough brought the run to an end winning 2 1 at Eastwood.

FA Vase. Beat Leicester ST Andrews 2 nil away last Saturday and have Irchester United away in the next round.

In the Knock out cup they beat Melton Town 3 1 at home and have Bugbrooke ST Michaels at home in the next round.

In the Notts Senior Cup they have beaten Newark Town away 3 1

Hucknall's league record now reads

Played 10 winning 4 drawing 2 and losing 4 with a GD of plus 1.

Hucknall will be hoping to continue their good form at Eastwood where they have won the last 2 seasons. Eastwood will be looking to gain ground on the teams above them.

Unfortunately I will be away for this one and also the Heanor game so cheer the lads on for me.

Hucknall town overcame a red card to record an impressive victory away at Newark & Sherwood at Harrowby United's Dickens Road ground.
Hucknall came in to the game on the back of a last gasp defeat in the FA Vase at Lutterworth where injuries played their part in an unlucky defeat.
So with Niall Towle, Brad Lathall, Taylor Jaine, CJ Dunkley Aaron Short Reece Sugars and Sam Sims all out injured the management brought in Gianluca Franco Bucci on loan from Long Eaton United and he went straight into the starting 11. Kyle Pemberton also started
Both sides started the game with a good tempo with the hosts forcing a couple of corners which were dealt with and Belgrave having a shot which went wide for the visitors.
On 12 mins Hucknall had a shout for handball in the box which was waved away. Simmon's then hit the post from outside the box. Hucknall were playing some good football and Bucci put an header over from an Ashurst corner.
20 minutes saw Hucknall take the lead from the penalty spot (photo courtesy of Pete Lee)

The ball was played in and the referee did well to spot a handball, adjudging that the defender's hand was in an unnatural position.
Uyi-Olaye stepped up and beat the keeper well to his right.

The hosts responded and Sheperd the visiting keeper was called into action on 27 mins making a really good save and Bucci completed the clearance.
A worrying moment for the Yellows on 31 mins as Pemberton went down injured but he was able to carry on.
36 Mins could have seen a turning point in the game. Bucci was wiped out by a tackle from Smith. There was a bit of a melee in which Uyi-Olaye allegedly raised his hands to an opponent and grabbed his throat. After consulting with the Linesman the referee rightly produced a red card to the Hucknall player. Smith received a yellow for the tackle.

The hosts had the ball in the net on 42 mins but the assistants flag had long been raised to discount it.
Hucknall had coped well after the dismissal and their caused was helped in first half stoppage time when a Newark player was sin binned for speaking out of turn.

Half Time: Newark and Sherwood 0 Hucknall 1

Any thoughts that Hucknall would sit on the one goal lead were dispelled as they came out on thee front foot. A Brad well's Header went just wide and a free kick just outside the box was claimed by Flitton in the home net.
Five minutes into the half Hucknall doubled their lead. A Belgrave shot was saved by Flitton but Brad Wells was on hand to put away the rebound despite claims for offside by the home defence.

5 minutes later it was 3 and Wells doubled his tally with a shot that deflected in off a defender giving Flitton no chance.

The goal seemed to deflate the hosts and Hucknall were quite happy to allow them possession.
The first change for the Yellows came on 67 mins with Rawson making way for Myles. A good round of applause for the departing wing back from the visiting fans.
69 mins saw Hucknall seal the game with a fourth. Brad Wells completing his hat trick calmly slotting home from a tight angle.

With the game won Wells was replaced by Skervin on 73 mins and got a rousing ovation from the fans. What a great performance.
80 mins saw Ashurst replaced by Lindo.
The hosts pressed in the later stages forcing a good save from Sheperd and then hitting the post with another effort.
Fogg came on for Rowe on 87 mins, another good round of applause.
The last ten minutes belonged to the hosts but the damage had already been done and the clean sheet was an added bonus.

Full Time: Newark and Sherwood 0 Hucknall Town 4

A fine performance from the lads and a special mention to the support from the young lads who were superb. That's what we want.......some great songs.
The Yellows are next in action on Saturday when we visit our near neighbours and local rivals Eastwood CFC where we will hope to carry on our good form there.

RE-RUN OF SENIOR CUP FINAL AWAITS YELLOWS NEXT

NEWARK & SHERWOOD V HUCKNALL TOWN

GCE HIRE FLEET UCL PREMIER NORTH

TUESDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER 2025 19.45 KO

MATCH PREVIEW

Hucknall travel to Harrowby FC to take on tenants Newark & Sherwood this Tuesday evening fast on the heels of exiting the FA Vase at Lutterworth Town where more injuries were picked up to add to the ever growing casualty list.
Newark & Sherwood have a league record so far of
played 9 winning 2 drawing 3 and losing 4 with a GD of  minus 7 to lie in 17th place just 1 point above the drop zone. However victory for the hosts would see them leap frog the Yellows.
7 of those points came in their first 3 league games.
Wins have come against Heanor Town (away 2 1) and AFC Mansfield (home 2 1)
Draws have come against Eastwood CFC on opening day (away 1 1) Rivals Newark Town (away 2 2)and Deeping Rangers (home 2 2)
Defeats have come against Belper United (home 0 2), Landlords Harrowby United (away 1 4), Wisbech Town (away 0 2) and Skegness Town (away 0 2)
6 league games without a win after a bright start.
They have fared much better in the cups.
In the FA Cup they defeated GNG Oadby Town (away 4 1) before bowing out at  Boston Town 4 1 after a goal less draw at home.
In the FA Vase they beat ingles on penalties after a 1 1 draw at home. On Saturday they beat Louth Town 1 nil at home to progress to the first round proper.
In the League cup They defeated Swallows Nest 1 nil at home to set up a home tie with Atherstone Town in the next round.
Hucknall's league record now reads
played 9 winning 3 drawing 2and losing 4 with a GD of minus 3 to lie in 12th.
We can now concentrate on the league as we are out of all these cups until we begin our defence of the Notts Senior Cup. Of course Newark & Sherwood played their part in that incredible final and will be seeking pay back.
Safe travels to everyone making the trip of which I hope to be one.

HUCKNALL'S INJURY WOES WORSEN AS THEY EXIT THE VASE

 FA VASE SECOND QUALIFYING ROUND

LUTTERWORTH TOWN 3 HUCKNALL TOWN 2

SATURDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER 2025 15.00 KO

MATCH REPORT

Teams: Lutterworth Town:

number 2 was Dylan Parish not Jared Acton who was already number 5

Hucknall Town:

attendance: 90

Hucknall already without the services of Niall Towle, Sam Sims, Brad Lathall and CJ Dunkley had to replace two centre backs and had the third forced to carry on playing all in the first half and despite an heroic effort went out of the FA Vase to a goal for the hosts late into added on time.

As early as the first minute Captain Aaron Short went down injured and despite trying to carry on was replaced by Mahzi Smmon's a minute later.

Despite this Hucknall started quite brightly and took the lead on 14 minutes. Kyle Pemberton rising highest at the far post to head the ball home. This followed an Ashurst corner which found Sugar's who delivered into the box for Pemberton to score.

Shepard in the Hucknall goal had very little to do but the hosts had a corner in the 34th minute and once again this proved to be Hucknall's undoing. The corner was played to the near post to be flicked on by Dylan Parish which flew into the net to restore parity.

38 minutes saw another injury this time to Reece Sugars who was replaced by Myles.

Both teams exchanged corners in the run up to half time but it remained even. On the half time whistle it was noticed that Pemberton was limping badly.

Half Time Lutterworth 1 Hucknall 1

Pemberton came out for the second half and soldiered on.

Luis Parkes had the first effort of the half being played through by Ashurst with Oyi-Olaye playing a lovely dummy. Parkes shot straight at ex yellows keeper Jeffrey.

Jeffrey was in action again on 54 saving a shot from Belgrave.

Lutterworth then had a period of possession with Pemberton thwarting an attack but conceding a corner. The corner was cleared as was a long throw into the box which Belgrave dealt with. Sheperd then produced a good save from a close range shot before Hucknall cleared another corner.

It was a little against the run of play when Hucknall took the lead on 72 minutes. Luis Parkes had a shot which came back off the post but fell nicely to Brad Wells to finish.

As play approached the last ten minutes Hucknall's efforts to cover for the missing centrebacks began to take its toll and the host's once again equalized when Liam read who had replaced Jake Brown finished off well after Sheperds goal kick was intercepted.

Hucknall responded by earning a corner and then a dangerous looking free kick. Parkes's shot came back off the wall. The ball fell to Oyi-Olaye who found Wells who put the ball over from a good position.

The game became very open with Sheperd producing a fine save as Lutterworth looked for a winner.

Wells then had a long range shot which flew just wide.
88 mins saw Jeffrey make the best save of the game just when it looked like Oyi-Olaye would score.
It proved to be a vital save as Hucknall visibly tired allowing the hosts a period of possession in added on time. Pemberton did well to clear for a corner which was headed out for a throw. The initial throw was dealt with but was picked up by Lutterworth who played Read through on goal. Read's shot gave Sheperd no chance and nestled in the net to give the host's the winner in the 4th minute of added on time.
There was still time for Hucknall respond but the linesman who had been in the home defence's pocket all game raised his flag for the umpteenth time and that was the end of Hucknall's vase run for this season.
Can't fault the efforts of the lads given the circumstances but we are really suffering with injuries now and selection for Tuesday game versus Newark & Sherwood (at Harrowby fc) will be interesting.
Good Luck to Lutterworth Town in the next Round and particularly our ex keeper Luke Jeffrey who certainly played his part in our defeat.

ASHBY IVANHOE:

OFFICIALS: WILLIAM NORRIS, ROBIN BOURNE, PAUL DIXON
ATTENDANCE: 147

Hucknall incredible run of victories against the Knights came to an end as the visitors staged a late comeback to grab a share of the spoils. Hucknall were undone in a game which the majority of the supporters present (I wasn't one) thought was their best performance of the season by a equalzer 6 minutes into stoppage time scored by the visitor's keeper.

Hucknall were forced into a change in goal with Alfie Smith-Eccles unavailable. Frankie Shepard signed from Heanor Town in time to play in the game. Welcome aboard Frankie.
Mahzi Simmons dropped to the bench along side the returning player Omreiki Myles and Trev Lindo. Morgan Scott on work experience from Mansfield Town was also on the bench.

Hucknall started really brightly earning a corner in the first minute which was punched away by the visiting keeper. He was called into action again on 10 minutes producing a good save from Belgrave before Parkes put an effort wide just a minute later.
On 19 a free kick was awarded on the edge of the box but Ashurst's free kick was cleared for a corner from which a free kick was awarded to Ashby.
On 25 mins the Yellows opened the scoring, Brad Wells getting on the end of a cross and scoring from close range at the far post.
Just before half time Pemberton forced a good save from the Ashby keeper after Sugars had sone well to get the ball back in from a corner.

Half Time: Hucknall 1 Ashby 0

Hucknall continued to control the game after the break forcing an early corner but this was cleared. Uyi-Olaye was then fouled on the edge of the box but the free kick evaded everyone.
On 54 Belgrave was booked for kicking the ball away.
On the hour mark Hucknall doubled their lead when the impressive Uyi-Olaye finished off a lovely move which involved Ashurst releasing Sugars who's pinpoint cross found Uyi-Olaye to slot home. Uyi-Olaye was involved again crossing to Wells but a defender got in a vital touch to prevent a third goal.
Hucknall made changes on 65 mins with Rowe and Oli-Olaye being replaced by Simmon's and Lindo.
The visitors had a chance after the ball was given away in midfield but Shepard was able to palm the shot away.
Hucknall continued to press with a couple of corners one of which the keeper missed but the Yellow's were unable to capitalise.
Belgrave was replaced by Myles on 74 mins.
Ashby finally exerted some pressure on 79 mins when a shot was deflected for a corner. This was punched away by Shepard but fell to an Ashby man who fired over the bar.
81 mins saw Wells and Parkes make way for Fogg and Scott.
87 mins saw a stoppage in play when both Simmons and Sugars went down injured which led to both going off the field having received treatment.
Ashby capitalised on this scoring in the 90th minute whilst the Yellows were down to 9 men. Kozluk who had come on as sub finding the net from Johnson's headed flick on from a free kick.
Worse was to follow for Hucknall as another free kick found the visiting keeper who had gone up for the set piece finding the back of the net much to the delight of the visiting bench. Hucknall thought they may be recued by the linesman's raised flag but this was only to confirm the ball had crossed the line.

FT Hucknall 2 Ashby 2
More points given away from a position of strength from 2 set pieces again despite a good team performance. Credit to the visitors who at last got some reward from a game against us.
Up next for the Yellows is the next round of the FA Vase on Saturday against Lutterworth Town.

YELLOWS FACE BOTTOM SIDE ASHBY IN SEARCH OF MUCH NEEDED POINTS

 HUCKNALL TOWN V ASHBY IVANHOE

GCE HIRE FLEET UCL PREMIER NORTH

WEDNESDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER 2025 19.45 KO

MATCH PREVIEW

Hucknall host Ashby Ivanhoe hoping the the Indian sign they hold over the Knights continues.
In a remarkable run of results since the Yellow's promotion to the Premier North Hucknall have been victorious in all four league games. Both games last season ended 1 0 to Hucknall and even in our first season back at step 5 Town recorded 2 1 victories in both games which certainly helped us remain in the division despite only winning 4 games all season.
Ashby started poorly last year before staging a remarkable recovery eventually finishing 9th. This season has started in similar fashion losing their first seven games. The rot was ended with a 4 1 home win against Belper United this being followed up with a creditable 2 2 draw away at high flying Kimberley MW (at Basford United FC)
The defeats came against Deeping Rangers (away 0 1), Eastwood CFC (home 1 3), Boston Town (home 1 2), Melton Town (away 2 3), Heanor Town (home 1 2), Clay Cross (home 0 2) and Blackstones (away 0 3)
In the FA Cup the Knights lost 1 nil at Worcester Raiders. They play Nuneaton Griff in their first game in this seasons FA Vase on Saturday and they beat West Bridgford 3 1 away in the league cup to progress to the next round where they will play Northampton O N Chenecks at home.
Their league record so far is
Played 9 winning 1 drawing 1 and losing 7 with a GD of minus 8
This compares with the Yellows record of
Played 8 winning 3 drawing 1 and losing 4 with a GD of minus 3
The Yellows go into the game still with key players missing through injury but with Omreiki Myles returning to the club and Charlie Cheatham and Morgan Scott joining on work experience from Mansfield Town the Management have options.
Safe Travels to everyone making the journey from North Leicestershire.

Boston deservedly took the points home and won the mini series between the 2 sides by 2 games to 1. Thankfully we aren't scheduled to play them again until April. Despite knowing what Boston bring to the table, being very direct and utilising long throws into the box Hucknall were again unable to contain them and at the other end not really testing the visiting keeper despite some neat approach play.
Hucknall started with both Rowe and simmons playing in the wing back roles using 3 centre backs once more. There was a welcome return for Solace Uliolaye on the subs bench. Hucknall were without Towle. Lathall, Sims and Dunkley all on the treatment table.
There was a presentation before the start of the game to mark Captain Aaron Short's 200th appearance for the club.
The first half started with both sides struggling to gain an advantage and it took until the 25th minute for the first real action of the game. unfortunately for Hucknall it produced a goal for the visitors. Tate getting on the end of a cross and smashing the ball into the net from 10 yards.
Hucknall didn't really respond except for a cross from Rowe that had to be dealt with by the visiting keeper.
Hucknall's injury woes continued on 33 minutes when Tefera was forced off injured to be replaced by Uliolayi.
Hucknall had a chance just before half time but Well's shot was straight at the keeper.

Half Time Hucknall 0 Boston 1

Hucknall came out more determined and Belgrave very nearly brought the scores level with a long range effort that hit the post.
50 minutes in the visitors doubled their lead with Bayliss's overhead kick finding the target.
Bayliss was unlucky on 57 seeing his effort come back off the crossbar. I must say that Bayliss is a fine player who has shone in all of the games.
On the hour mark Hucknall made changes with Ashurst and Simmons making way for Skervin and Rawson.
Hucknall were looking for a life line and got one on 66 mins when Brad Wells was adjudged to be fouled in the area .Olialaye marking his return with a great penalty to reduce the deficit to 1.

Most games have turning points and the 74th minute provided one. Brad Wells was again fouled in the box except the referee declined the appeals despite it being more of a penalty claim than the first one. To make matters worse Boston went up the other end and practically put the game to bed with a third goal. Matt Cotton providing the finish from Bayliss's whipped in cross.
Belgrave and Wells were replaced by Pemberton and Fogg.
To Hucknall's credit they gave it a good go in the last 15 minutes but the damage had already been done. There was time for a nasty looking challenge on Reece Sugars with the home contingent in the stand convinced it was a red card challenge but Boston crowded the referee with claims the player had touched the ball which was enough for the referee to show just a yellow. Thankfully Sugars was able to carry on and looked okay.

Full Time: Hucknall 1 Boston 3

Since the game Omreiki Myles has returned to the club from Clay Cross and Charlie Cheatham (midfield) and Morgan Scott (striker) have joined on an initial months work experience from Mansfield Town.
Next up is a home league game against Ashby Ivanhoe on Wednesday where the Yellows will look to get back to winning ways after recent disappointing results.
Good Luck to Boston for the rest of the season. They are a solid side with some good supporters. I have enjoyed their company over the last couple of weeks.
Hucknall's man of the match was Cash Rowe (£25.00 voucher for the ARC Cinema) and also the player of the Month for end of July/August was given to Lewis Belgrave for his 5 goals during the period.(£50.00 UK PUB voucher)

HUCKNALL WELCOME BOSTON TO THE RM FOR ROUND THREE

 HUCKNALL TOWN V BOSTON TOWN

GCE HIRE FLEET UCL PREMIER NORTH

SATURDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER 2025 15.00 KO

MATCH PREVIEW

The Yellows return to league action on Saturday but the visitors will be very familiar. For the third time in as many weeks Hucknall face Boston this time for league points.

Hucknall won the first game 3 1 at the RM to progress in the FA Vase when Boston really didn't play like they can. Boston gained revenge last Saturday winning 2 nil at home to knock Hucknall out of the league cup when the Yellows made costly mistakes and Boston benefitted.

It could be argued that this is the most important game of the three. Yes it would be nice to have a good Vase run and the league cup isn't really high up on the list of priorities but three points is something both teams would like especially as Boston lie directly above Hucknall in the table(12th and 13th) and both would like to make ground on the teams above.

Both teams have 10 points though Boston have played the fewest games of anybody in the division having only played 5 to Hucknall's 7.

Boston have won 3 drawn 1 and lost 1 with a GD of plus 3 compared with Hucknall's played 7 winning 3 drawing 1 and losing 3 with a GD of minus 1

Hucknall go into the game with Niall Towle again missing as CJ Dunkley and Brad Lathall also probably out of contention as well. With Ethan Hulley and Max Scoular departed from the club the squad looks a bit thin. The addition of loan signing of Rueben Fogg from Boston United who made his debut in the last game eases the situation and I understand a couple of signings have also been made this week but know no details.

News that fans favourite Aaron Lamb has left the club to join Stapleford came in midweek. I really do wish Lamby all the very best and hopefully a full return to fitness will follow for him.

I predict another tight game and wouldn't be at all surprised if it ends all square.

Safe travels to Boston's visiting players, staff and supporters.

BOSTON GET REVENGE FOR VASE EXIT AS HUCKNALL ERRORS CAUSE THE DAMAGE

BOSTON TOWN 2 HUCKNALL TOWN 0

SPORTS GROUND DEVELOPMENT UCL CUP

SATURDAY 6TH SEPT 2025 15.00 KO

MATCH REPORT

TEAMS: BOSTON TOWN                   HUCKNALL TOWN

OFFICIALS;James Truman, Joanne Mackenzie, Giles Elson
ATTENDANCE: 70 (don't think they counted all the kids in the ground, which was nice to see)

Boston gained revenge for their FA Vase exit at the RM by knocking the Yellow's out of the League Cup but once again the opposition benefitted from errors made by the visitors.
Once again key man Niall Towle was missing and he still hasn't had a much needed scan on his troublesome knee. (come on HTFC lets get this sorted). CJ Dunkley was also missing due to the hamstring injury picked up Wednesday. The management toyed with the formation playing 3 centre backs in Sort, Sugars and Jaine with Pemberton also available on the bench. Mahzi Simmon's started at wing back with Cash Rowe dropping to the bench.
Boston were the first to show with 2 early corners but the Yellow's defence stood firm.
Hucknall's first real chance fell to Brad Wells who shot from the edge of the box but the effort went wide.
18 mins saw a foul on Brad Lathall which caused him to fall on his shoulder. After lengthy treatment he had to leave the field and was taken to the local hospital. Update from the player himself is that it is a complete separation of the AC joint and tomorrow a visit to the QMC will determine whether surgery is required or not. Tefera came on as replacement.
22 mins saw a long range effort from Rawson go just wide for the Yellows.
31 mins saw Hucknall's biggest chance of the half followed as Skervin was through. The home keeper blocked his shot but the ball fell nicely to Wells who tried to place the ball in the top corner but put it over the bar.
Skervin had another effort on 38 mins but from a tight angle the keeper was able to easily save the effort.
A minute later Rawson played in Belgrave who's first time effort went wide.
The game was pretty even with Hucknall defending well including a 42nd minute free kick central and just outside the box which Smith-Eccles dealt with comfortably.
Just as it looked like the half would end in stalemate Boston took the lead and the Yellows will be really disappointed in its nature. From an Hucknall corner the ball was cleared to Parkes who was penalised for hand ball. Hucknall had players out of position and the hosts took advantage by taking the free kick quickly releasing Gibbons who evaded the defenders challenge before crossing to an unmarked Bayliss at the far post who smashed the ball home.
Hucknall forced a corner just before the half time whistle blew but it came to nothing.
As the officials walked off the pith the Referee took objection to an expletive remark from a section of the away support. (i think most people heard the remark). He asked the stewards to remove the person from the ground. Unfortunately he got the wrong offender but the culprit was honest enough to own up and he did indeed leave the ground watching the second half from a tree behind the goal. More than likely this will end up on the referee's report and action will be taken. I know all of those involved and 99% of the time they offer great vocal support. Cut the 1 % out lads and get a rep for being great supporters.

Half Time Boston Town 1 Hucknall Town 0

Hucknall made and early substitution on 53 mins when Skervin was replaced by Ethan Hulley. It is to be the last game in Yellow as Ethan is off to Dubai this week. Really wish Ethan all the best and personally thank him for taking the time out to encourage and support my grandson Charlie in his photographic pursuits.
Further replacements for the Yellows followed on 59 mins as Rawson and Parkes were replaced by Rowe and debutant for Hucknall Fogg who is on a months loan from Boston United.
70 mins saw Pemberton replace Jaine.
The substitutions were becoming the highlight of the half with both teams enjoying possession but nothing much coming of it.
With 15 minutes left Hucknall pushed forward but despite earning a succession of corners failed to test the home keeper.
Hucknall's hopes of salvaging something were thwarted again by a defensive undoing. The impressive Bayliss taking advantage of a misplaced pass and finishing with aplomb to seal the game for hosts.
Five minutes were added but the Yellows were unable to make any efforts count.

Full Time: Boston Town 2 Hucknall Town 0

Hucknall once again were the architects of their own downfall. We are missing Niall no doubt about that and now we will have Brad Lathall out for a while along with CJ.
Our next game is Round 3 with Boston at the RM in the league next Saturday.
I wish them well in the next round where they have drawn Sherwood Colliery away.

SATURDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER 2025 15.00 KO

MATCH PREVIEW

Hucknall make the long trip to Boston on the back of Wednesday night's defeat where they were put to the sword by a good Sherwood Colliery side.

They will be looking for a vast improvement performance wise but will not find it easy at a ground where we have been second best a few times and against a side who will be gunning for revenge for their recent FA Vase exit at the RM where they themselves produced a sub par performance.

Boston have only played 5 league games, winning 3, drawing 1 and losing 1 with a GD of 3 just above the Yellows on the same number of points (10) as the Yellows GD took a battering on Wednesday.

Boston started their league campaign with a home draw with Heanor (2 2)and then a defeat at Wisbech (1 2). Since then 3 league wins have come against Ashby away (2 1)Newark Town at home (2 1) and AFC Mansfield at home (3 1).

In the FA Cup wins came against Kimberley MW at home (2 0) and Newark and Sherwood at home (4 1) after a 0 0 draw at Newark. A creditable 1 1 draw followed against Sporting Khalsa before bowing out 2 nil in the replay.

The FA Vase of course saw the Yellows triumph 3 1 at the RM.

Hucknall will have injury concerns once more with Striker Niall Towle out for the foreseeable future and CJ Dunkley going off at half time on Wednesday. The defensive selection will be an interesting one.

Safe Travels to everyone travelling.
