HUCKNALL ON THE ROAD IN SEASON OPENER

 SLEAFORD TOWN V HUCKNALL TOWN

UCL PREMIER DIVISION NORTH

SATURDAY 27.07.24 3 PM KO

MATCH PREVIEW

Hucknall Town begin their 2024/25 League campaign with a tough looking visit to Sleaford who will be looking to improve on just missing out on the play off positions last time out finishing in 6th place a point below Skegness Town in 5th.

Sleaford had a few yellows fans supporting them back in April when defeating Pinchbeck condemning them to relegation and ensuring Hucknall stayed in the division barring a massive swing in goal difference which never happened of course.

Sleaford and Hucknall played their league games last season within the space of 7 days back in February. Despite decent performances from the Yellows in both games Sleaford won 2 1 at home and a week later 2 0 at the RM Stadium.

I certainly believe that Sleaford will be challenging at the top end and this game will be a good test for the Yellows.

Sleaford's Pre-Season games includes wins over Pinchbeck away and Raunds Town at home, a draw at home against Harrowby (losing on Pens as it was a cup game) and defeats against Newark Town away and Grantham Town also away.

Hucknall Pre-Season began with a 4 2 win at Birstall followed by a 4 3 win against neighbours Linby. A decent performance and 2 2 draw at Hinckley Leicester Road followed a 5 2 defeat at the RM to Long Eaton and a 5 1 success over Southwell. Another 2 2 draw came at the RM against Sherwood before the showcase PSF v a strong Mansfield Town outfit ended in a 6 0 defeat though a lot of positives came from the game including a record RM crowd. The PSF's ended in a 3 1 defeat at to Stapleford at Radford FC.

I haven't been able to make it to many of the PSF's but I draw encouragement from those I made. We seem to be sharper and fitter and are certainly much better prepared this time around. Our home form certainly needs a vast improvement on last seasons showing and will be key into where we finish.

Sleaford will provide a stern test.
